First of all, The attendees were amazing! I haven't had such fun conversations with so many people I didn't know in ages. People were interested in all sorts of ideas related to science, far beyond comics. They were genuinely interested in the concepts behind my novels, and just seemed to be enjoying life. Those who chose to wear costumes displayed an incredible amount of creativity and ingenuity. I was amazed at the range of characters and quality of the portrayals on display. And not one ever refused a request for a photo opportunity.
Even the crowds, even when shoulder-to-shoulder in the aisles, maintained a level of happiness and generosity unheard of in most places these days. Everyone was having such a good time, they forgot to yell at the person in front of them who stopped suddenly causing a traffic jam in front of a booth.
If you have never attended a Comic Con before, and you would like to have the opportunity to forget your troubles for a day or two, get your tickets for next year and join in the fun. The smiles and positivity are highly contagious.
