Having said all of that, I am proud to say I am still willing and able to go into space. In fact, I would jump at the opportunity without hesitation. My wife thinks I am nuts. I have been a space junkie for most of my life. I vividly remember watching launches of the Mercury astronauts while sitting by my dad's chair, building my own rocket out of wood blocks. I kept every scrap of news about the Apollo 11 moon landing. I sat on pins and needles as the Curiosity rover passed through each phase of the landing procedure. And I cheered out loud when the first images from New Horizons were shown. If John Glenn could visit the space station at the advanced age he did, then I can go there too. Why not?
Anyway, Despite the risks involved, I believe we have benefited from the sacrifices made by those who have gone into space. Our modern way of life would probably not be possible without what we have learned along the way. Yet we take so much of it for granted. Lets keep supporting NASA and all the private companies who are trying to keep us in space. Thank You.
